Venue Woes

What a day… While I usually check my email on the bus ride to work (thank goodness for my iPad and 3G coverage) I thought I would take a sneak peek this morning after I checked the weather for today – you never know with Seattle.
Sitting in my inbox so innocently was an email from the facilitator at our wedding venue.
Greetings to all of our event clients!

Many of you may have heard about recent discussions between local valley residents, the towns of North Bend and Snoqualmie and King County regulators regarding noise ordinances. Noise pollution is high on their list of concerns. In order to comply with official recommendations, we are making necessary changes to our music guidelines. This summer's events must have the loud dance music turned off by 9 pm. Low volume background music such as in a restaurant can be played until 10pm.

Please contact us if you have any questions. We appreciate your cooperation.

Hope all is going well and see you soon!

Well, this will just not do. I whispered a few expletives. That woke T. and thus began the drama that would consume the next 7 hours.
The end result was fine… they called the Sheriff and confirmed that 10:00p is just fine (county code) and that in the case of any issues the Sheriff would go to their house and not interrupt our party. But all of that came after my day was ruined along with my mascara.
Now I’ll just have to backtrack on that freaked out email I sent to the staff of my county councilmember.
Until next time…

Fourth of July

Fourth of July was so fun so even though it was weeks ago... I had to post about it. Plus, the passing of the day meant we were that much closer to The Big Day.

We visited Ingrid and David in lovely Yachats... while the town is tiny it has a lot to offer. Among the offerings? Fresh seafood and microbrews. Plus, a parade in which my mom dressed as a pirate (photos to come soon).

My mom and I also reviewed one of the projects she is doing for my wedding. I will post some photos when it is complete. In the meantime, my creative description will have to do. The idea is not totally original - I've seen variations in magazines and online. I want to string a pennant banner from each corner diagonally across our tent. I found cotton fabric in various colors and prints (bright, bold, fun!) and chose some that include our wedding colors prominently. I cut the fabric into triangles using pinking sheers and they will be attached to white cotton. I just hope my mom paces herself and does not end up pulling all nighters the week before the wedding.

FAb for 14

I have a new love. While I am not one to jump immediately on the bandwagons of new trends, I decided to try one of the new chip-free manicures. The girls and I decided to indulge in mani/pedis during my Shower/Bachelorette weekend. I requested my favorite place for these treatments - Julep. They have a new Fab for 14 manicure. Unlike some of these new manicures, Julep's uses an LED light instead of a UV (sun damage? No thanks!). I almost backed out when I realized it's more involved to remove, but it turns out it is only slightly more difficult. The home removal involves soaking in acetone and pushing the polish off with an orange stick. Julep will remove it for $10 (or $6 if you have another manicure done). I have enjoyed my fuchsia nails for more than 14 days - it actually lasted more like 18. I just started to see a chip yesterday... And let me say, I did not baby these babies. I washed my dog, did endless dishes and painted my bedroom!

You can get more info here: myjulep.com

For those of you with no Julep... I am truly sorry! Go to the website and request that they open one in your neck of the woods!

Oh, and I did not even mention that they graciously poured champagne (we brought our own) and served cupcakes (also ours).

Xoxo!
